Oral Surgery in Dubai | Extractions, Implants, Bone Grafts | 2026 Guide

Oral surgery encompasses a range of procedures from straightforward tooth extractions to complex implant surgeries and jaw reconstructions. At Top Smile Dental Clinic in Oud Metha, Dubai, our DHA-licensed oral surgeons perform all common oral surgical procedures using the latest techniques — prioritising precision, safety, and patient comfort throughout.

Tooth Extractions

Tooth extraction — the removal of a tooth from its socket — may be necessary for a variety of reasons: severe decay, advanced gum disease, dental abscess, impacted wisdom teeth, orthodontic space creation, or fractured roots. Our team performs both:

  • Simple extractions — For teeth fully erupted in the mouth with straightforward root anatomy. Typically 10–20 minutes under local anaesthetic
  • Surgical extractions — Required for broken teeth, teeth with complex roots, or when surgical access is needed. A small incision and possible bone removal are involved. Still performed comfortably under local anaesthetic

See our complete tooth extraction guide for detailed information on the process, aftercare, and cost.

Wisdom Tooth Removal

Wisdom teeth (third molars) frequently cause problems in the late teens and twenties — impaction, recurrent infection (pericoronitis), crowding, and decay. Wisdom tooth removal is one of the most common oral surgical procedures performed at Top Smile Dental Clinic. Key points:

  • Panoramic X-ray assessment from age 16–17 identifies impaction risk early
  • All four wisdom teeth can be assessed in a single panoramic X-ray
  • Removal under local anaesthetic; conscious sedation available on request
  • Most patients return to normal activities within 2–3 days; soft food for 5–7 days
  • Cost: AED 1,200 – 2,500 per impacted wisdom tooth

Dental Implant Surgery

Dental implant placement is the most technically demanding oral surgical procedure we perform. Our CBCT-guided implant surgery protocol ensures maximum precision:

  • 3D CBCT scan maps bone anatomy, nerve positions, and sinus proximity precisely
  • Digital implant planning positions each implant optimally in 3D before surgery
  • Surgical guide (template) fabricated from the digital plan for guided, minimally invasive surgery
  • All implant placement performed under local anaesthetic — no hospital or general anaesthesia required

We offer single implants, multiple implants, All-on-4 full arch restorations, and same day implants. See our comprehensive dental implants guide for complete information.

Bone Grafting

When bone is lost after a tooth extraction or due to gum disease, insufficient bone volume may prevent immediate implant placement. Bone grafting rebuilds this lost bone using:

  • Autograft — Bone harvested from the patient’s own body (typically the chin or jaw)
  • Xenograft — Sterile bovine (cow) bone particles (most commonly used); processed to remove all biological material, leaving only the mineral scaffold
  • Synthetic grafts — Laboratory-produced bone substitute materials

The graft material acts as a scaffold into which the patient’s own bone grows. Full integration typically takes 4–6 months before implant placement can proceed. Cost: AED 1,500 – 3,000 per graft site.

Sinus Lift

The maxillary sinuses sit directly above the upper posterior (back) teeth. When upper back teeth are lost and bone resorbs, the sinuses can expand downwards, leaving insufficient bone height for implant placement. A sinus lift (sinus augmentation) creates more bone height by lifting the sinus floor and placing graft material in the created space.

This is performed under local anaesthetic in our clinic (no hospital required) and takes 60–90 minutes. Healing before implant placement: 4–6 months. Cost: AED 3,000 – 6,000.

Frenectomy

A frenum is a small fold of tissue that connects the lip or tongue to the gum. An abnormally tight or short frenum can:

  • Restrict tongue movement (ankyloglossia / “tongue-tie”) — affecting feeding in infants, speech development in children
  • Create a gap between the upper front teeth (labial frenum) that orthodontic treatment alone may not fully close
  • Cause gum recession at specific sites

Frenectomy is a simple, minor procedure performed with a laser or scalpel under local anaesthetic. Recovery is rapid — most patients are comfortable within 24–48 hours.
